Critic Movie Review of the Famous Hindi Film, “3 IDIOTS”

“All is well!”, an optimistic encouraging line that all of the focal characters put across which creates a gigantic impact in the movie that makes it more outstanding as it leave an everlasting influence on the viewers mind and disposition in life. Well written and produced indeed! This movie seems to be exceptional and no wonder how it becomes all-time favorite of everybody.
The 2009 Indian movie titled, “3 Idiots” directed by Rajkumar Hirani is a gratifying musical age drama-comedy film with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The script of the film is loosely adapted from the 2004 bestseller novel, “Five Point Someone” by Chetan Bhagat. The movie talks about the three (3) remarkable engineering students as played by the affable charming actors namely, an Indian actor, writer, film producer and television host, R. Madhavan as Farhan Qureshi, an Indian film and theatre actor, Sharman Joshi as Raju Rastogi, and an Indian film actor, director, and producer who has established himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi cinema, Aamir Khan as Rancchoddas "Rancho" Shyamaldas Chanchad. The college-buddies are studying at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best engineering colleges in India and their comradeship stands the ordeal of time.
The opening of the story happens when two college-best buddies are summoned by a previous college classmate portrayed by an American actor, Omi Vaidya as Chatur Ramalingam or "The Silencer" for the upshot of a bad joke they have made ten years beforehand. Nevertheless, the head of the said bad joke is actually their long-lost college classmate Rancho (Aamir Khan) and when he fails to appear at the preferred meeting place, the three men settle on to go looking for
him. And from that particular scene, onwards, flashbacks enters which highlights their college days and recall Rancho’s impact on each of their lives, as well as his relationship with the strong-willed beautiful female character in the movie, portrayed by an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films, Kareena Kapoor as Pia and his recurrent clashes with her father, a college professor portrayed by an Indian film and theater actor, voice artist and photographer, Boman Irani as Viru Sahastrabudhhe. Conversely, when the mystery surrounding Rancho suddenly intensifies, they begin to speculate if they ever accurately knew their comrade at all.
3 Idiots is a must watch movie for all ages! The interaction between characters and the storyline is
fascinatingly connected and perfectly fitted. What I like about the film is though numerous flashbacks injected along the scenes, the momentum of the story is still well preserved. The mixture of emotions being shown in every picture is indeed complimentary and worthy which is appropriate for the structure and sequence of events in the narrative.
I like how the message of the movie is being emphasized and how it could directly understood by the viewers. There are lots of inspirational message that you can gain in the movie and one of those is “Make your passion your profession, and work will become a game” as this is mentioned by Rancho during the scene where he motivates his comrades to follow what they truly want to be. This certain line seems to strike me that I come to realize that life is too short, so I should enjoy what I am doing, so as you too.
I commend how the genial and brilliant characters in the movie play their lines with suitable emotions and expressions. You as a viewer of the film will experience medley of emotions as some scenes would make you laugh your heart out, feeling excited, mad, in love, moved and weep.
All of the so-called ingredients of a perfect movie are already in this film for in my whole life, I am satisfied by just one sitting. The crazy fun-filled activities of typical college students are also noticeable and explicitly stress in the scenes like meeting new friends, sharing one room of the board mate, falling in love, the secret drinking session of the boys, participating in the class, having a confrontation with the professor, being called to the professor’s office, funny moments with the best-buddies, helping other classmates and other people, and more. A full-packed charm and appealing scenes that the entertaining movie has that no matter how many times you repeatedly watch it, you’ll have the same expression and feeing just like the first time you have viewed it.
Talking about the presence of musicality in the movie, the songs are pleasing to the ears, mass-oriented and it could make you dance and jive with the beat. The props of every musical scene are amazing and creatively done especially the scene where Rancho and Pia are both singing with rain effects and they are like hanging in a swing with numerous backup dancers around them. Very romantic and endearing!
Though the movie is perfectly shaped, there are some scenes that made me react and feel sad about. It is the scene where the educational system that the institution has in the movie is rat race, dog-eat-dog, and mindless rote learning mentality as criticizes by Rancho in the movie. In simple terms, their educational system is emphasizing that “Life is a race. If you don't run fast, you'll get trampled.” Professors at the movie, particularly Professor Viru Sahastrabudhhe aka Virus used to teach and train his students with discipline, reinforcing competition, creating pressure, performance judged by marks,
discouraged creative and innovative thinking, criticized publically and never appreciated, and no open communication in which his supervision set them into pressure which is not good for it may push them to be stressed and commit suicide just like what happens in one of the students of the professor committed suicide. I am not also in favor of the cheating scene where Rancho and Farhan enter and sneak around the professor’s office. For me, it is quite a bad influence for the viewers, particularly to the students for they might gain some techniques on how to cheat. This scene for me are too harsh and undesirable
but I know this certain part of the story is one of the spices and climax of the story which makes it more striking and adds thrilling feeling to the viewers.
The story won’t be complete without the ending part. And the movie has a very relieving, commendable and satisfying ending that you, as a viewer would really love it. The movie ends where professor Virus
and Rancho become in good terms (during the flashbacks) and might as well, the three idiots finally found each other after the long wait (present time). It also ends with a very sweet scene where Pia swiftly kisses Rancho when they finally meet at the island, the place where Rancho lives and continue his life as a successful and influential engineer.
All in all, undeniably, I much love the movie! I can extremely relate to it particularly when it talks about how a life of a student can be, how we strive for survival in the class, how we want to pursue our dreams, how we fell in love by just one snap, how we want to help our family and of course, how situations in the society seem to be like in reality.
I would like to meet and congratulate Rajkumar Hirani for the success of this movie “3 Idiots”, for it is the highest-grossing film in Indian history.
